Sophie-Jo is a native of Worcester and has been dancing since the age of four in all manner of disciplines to a very high level. She trained in Musical Theatre and Dance at the distinguished school London Studio Centre where she was awarded the Leverhulme Scholarship as well as a 3 year grant from The Bransford Trust.
Sophie-Jo graduated from London Studio Centre with a first class honours. After this success, Sophie obtained a London based agent (FLP Management) where she took on numerous performing contracts across the UK. Sophie-Jo has performed at The Sadlers Wells Theatre, The Pleasance Theatre, The Peacock Theatre, The Swan Theatre, The Royal Opera House for the Pet Shop Boys Inner Sanctum Tour, E.M Forster Theatre with The Wizard of Oz and the UK Tour of The Little Mermaid.
In July 2016, Sophie launched her very own company: Monkeys in Motion, targeting young children ages 2-11. Monkeys in Motion now run numerous classes and workshops across Worcester & Malvern and have partnered with companies such as: David Lloyd Leisure, Malvern Theatres, Soul Sanctuary & many private and state schools. The two main programmes at Monkeys in Motion have been built to increase children’s physical development whilst keeping them active and social from a young age.
Sophie-Jo is consistently continuing professional development and has a real passion for sharing her knowledge and expertise.
Giorgia is originally from Lytham St Annes and is currently studying P.E and Dance at Worcester University. Her passion for dance started at the young age of 2, taking exams to a high level in RAD ballet, ISTD modern and tap, and performing in dance shows at least three times a year. She has learnt, performed and taught at her childhood dance school in Lytham until she moved to University in 2018.
Giorgia has been a full time member of a local Musical Theatre and stage youth group for many years, attending singing, acting and dance classes. She has performed in numerous productions such as Rock of Ages, Greece, and Phantom of the Opera.
Giorgia has also undertaken work experience in primary schools teaching both dance and PE and taking an active part in school life, working with children aged 4 to 11. She has also taught Dance with students of Hereford Arts college.
At University Giorgia has been a member of the Dance society and has taken part in several competitions claiming 1st and 2nd places in various disciples. This year she is to take on the role of Dance captain, which involves teaching and choreographing other students ready for the year’s competitions.
Giorgia is really excited to be part of the Monkeys in Motion team and fulfilling her love for working with young children in an active environment.
May Whittall was born and raised in Worcester and very much grew up with theatre. She started acting at the age of 5 and has worked on numerous shows through the years. May’s first job was at the age of 16 as a teacher's assistant at Pauline Quirke's Academy.
May obtained a level 3 Pcert Lam with Worcester Academy Theatre Arts College and went on to do a level 4 ATCL course, passing with distinction in both diplomas. She worked for 2 years as a drama teacher at the Worcester Academy, conducting junior, intermediate and senior lessons (ranging 6- 18 years of age) as well as taking individual students through LAMDA exams with a 100% pass rate.
In addition to teaching, May has performed in a full range of shows including As You Like It, Faustus, Into the Woods and Trojan Women. She was also Associate Director on a production of Macbeth at the Swan Theatre with a team of young performers which went on to receive astonishing reviews.
Currently, she is a children’s Coach and Creche Assistant at David Lloyd Club and is really excited to pass on her knowledge of theatre and dance to support children's cognitive and physical development.
Sophie was born and raised in the Worcestershire and began her love of dance and performing since the age of seven. Sophie began her dance training at Worcestershire dance schools, where she learnt many disciplines of dance to a very high level. During her younger years Sophie danced in various competitions, including qualifying to compete in the prestigious All England Dance finals. Throughout her younger years to a teenager Sophie performed as a juvenile dancer in the local Pantomimes at Worcester’s Swan Theatre.
Dance became a main interest of Sophie’s from a young age, and this was displayed throughout her time at High School and Sixth Form, where she received outstanding A grades in both GCSE and ‘A’ level Dance.
Sophie continued her dance training at the University of Worcester where she studied a BA honours in Dance and Community Practise and graduated with an upper 2:1 honour degree. While at University, Sophie was awarded two academic scholarships for receiving A and B grades at University in both theory and practical assessments, making Sophie the academic scholar of her dance course. Sophie has had numerous opportunities and experiences in many areas of dance and performance, including; Choreography, site specific performance and creating dance for films. Sophie has ample teaching experiences in many different community settings including teaching Younger years, the elderly, people with various disabilities and Special Educational Needs Development and children from the care system. Sophie has also taught on the AQA GCSE Dance Choreography module for year 11 students at a Worcestershire dance school.
Victoria was born and raised in Worcester and discovered her love for performing at the age of four. She received quality dance training at Academy Dance Worcester, where she achieved high grades in many exams across the disciplines. During this time Victoria took part in various festivals and shows, including successfully competing in the prestigious All England Dance Finals. Victoria worked as a juvenile in pantomimes at The Swan Theatre Worcester and 2014 was invited back as an ensemble cast member and understudy for Belle in ‘Beauty and the Beast’.
After her GCSEs Victoria continued her performing arts training at Hereford College of Arts where she graduated in 2015 with triple distinction* and received the Performing Arts Excellence in Achievement award. Through all her hard work she secured a place at Bird College in London where she is currently studying for a degree in Professional Dance and Musical Theatre. Victoria is also studying for her DDI teaching qualification in both tap and modern.
Victoria started as a teaching assistant at Academy Dance and as she got older subsequently began leading her own classes. Throughout her teens Victoria has assisted and led workshops, classes and summer school courses across the disciplines. Her passion for performing comes through when she teaches and she is very excited to be part of the Monkeys in Motion team.
